wedding wednesday: fall inspiration

okay, this makes me wish i had gotten married in the fall. i didn't know brown and orange could look so good. i especially love the caramel apples and the pumpkin place card holders.

Maggie’s dad made wooden boxes for some of the centerpieces. They were filled with either orange dahlias or red carnations and pillar candles of varying heights sat in the center. The bridesmaids wore strapless, knee-length dresses from Jenny Yoo Collection in the color mandarin, which complemented their bouquets of roses in varying hues of orange. The calla lily and orchid boutonnieres were styled to look as though they were plucked from the bride’s bouquet.Orange roses and dark-purple calla lilies popped against Chandra’s dress and incorporated both traditional and more contemporary fall wedding hues.Orange satin shoes added a punch of color to her wedding ensemble. The ivory programs were tied with a hand-dyed silk bronze ribbon and featured the couple’s monogram, along with an explanation of their Jewish and Catholic traditions. At the reception, floating candles lit hollowed-out pumpkins that were surrounded by fall leaves atop the tables, and flowers in autumnal hues adorned the fireplace mantle. The wedding cake, a chocolate mousse-filled vanilla cake, was frosted in buttercream and embellished with subtle swirls and flowers that suited the simple, classy wedding style. The dessert table received a seasonal kick from peanut-covered caramel apples.

simply recipes

if you're into cooking, you need to check out simplyrecipes.com. the lady in charge over there (elise, how coincidental) is amazing. my husband and i stumbled across the site about a year ago, and everything we've tried from there has turned out wonderfully. she's got specific directions, pictures and a story to accompany every recipe. seriously. check. it. out.

vintage kitchens

recently, i'm in love with vintage kitchen appliances. don't these retro appliances look so much better than the ones we use today? i love it. i want my own house and my own kitchen!

wedding wednesday

so to no one's surprise i love weddings. so i'll be doing a weekly post featuring something about weddings. this week, it's wedding cakes. wedding cakes with beaded accents to be specific. i think they are fab-u-lous. i can't tell you how much i love these images.

all images are from real weddings via theknot.com (a very helpful and inspirational website if you're planning a wedding, by the way)

menu planner + bountiful baskets

i am so bad at coming up with menus for my husband, myself and the fetus growing inside me. breakfast and lunch i can handle, but dinners never seem to work out as smoothly as i always imagined they would when i imagined marital/family bliss. that's why i'm in love with these menu planners designed by ollibird. i am definitely going to have to print one out and laminate it.the best part about these is that you can download them for FREE. for instructions on how to do so, you can click here.

while we're thinking about food and menus, i am super excited because as of six minutes ago, i just ordered my first bountiful basket! i heard about bountiful baskets from a few people, and decided it was time to finally try it out. i get to pick up my first fruit and veggie loaded basket on saturday morning. unfortunately this amazing deal is only available in a few states located out here in the western half of the US of A, but who knows, maybe the word will spread and all of my east coast friends will someday enjoy the benefits of bountiful baskets. so here's how it works: it's all volunteer based. it is not a business. it's a pool of people's donations. cool, right? so you pay fifteen dollars for a basic basket which is 50% fruit and 50% veggies. form what i hear you get all sorts of fresh goodies that are grown locally from fresh peaches to summer squash. from there you can do cool add-ons like get a mexican packet that comes with fresh cilantro, limes, grey squash, jalapeños, tomatillos, etc. they also have home made nine grain bread baskets available, along with other add-ons like a tortilla basket, or a granola basket. how awesome is this organization? if you're living out west, i highly recommend you try it out.
