recipes as wall decoration

one of the blogs i follow is me&alice. it always has beautiful, inspiring pictures of the swedish author's home. today i am inspired by her kitchen wall decor. she framed some of her mother's recipes and stuck them on the wall. how clever. i may just have to steal this idea for my own kitchen some day.

jude

our son was born last wednesday at 7:28 PM. we have named him steven jude. here are some photos of his nursery. i'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. also, i'm pretty pleased that i'm a mom :)

crib and a blanket steve and i made a few months back. we liked the monster fabric.

the vintage rocking chair we bought and reupholstered.

dinosaur bank from kohl's

polar bears. steve brought these back from norway.

wooden blocks from east germany; a gift from my step mother.

so long, summer

i have a few pictures i have taken myself that i like very much. i will display one every friday. today's picture was taken at lake powell, utah back in april of 2008. since this weekend means that summer is officially over, i thought i'd leave you all with one last summertime image. enjoy!

mirrors

my husband and i got new bedroom furniture! this means we have a place to fit all of our clothes, and we don't have to pile the baby's clothes inside of his pack n play! we are getting a bed frame, two dressers, a nightstand and an entertainment chest. quite the deal. the only thing we opted against was the mirror that came with one of the dressers. so we are hunting for a mirror to go above it. in my search, i found some pretty cool mirrors, so i thought i'd share.

i'm not exactly sure if any of these would actually work in our bedroom, but i like them. we will probably go with some sort of metal frame, since trying to match wood tones would be next to impossible. i'd also like something more uniquely shaped than just a square or a rectangle, although that gilded metal square frame above is pretty. i don't know. i guess i should wait until the furniture actually gets here to start trying to mix and match.
